|BLENHEIM - Friday 2nd February (Day 98)
After spending the previous day resting after our seakayaking adventures in Abel Tasman NP, we set off to Blenheim, a short 90 minute bus journey from Nelson. There was only one reason to hit Blenheim - and that is WINE TASTING! It is NZ's biggest wine growing district, famous for it's sauvignon blancs. Although I'm not a great white fan (and Gill doesn't drink at all), there was no other option but to get some serious tasting done!
A one man outfit called Highlights Tours took a small group of us by minibus on an enjoyable half-day trip to 4 wineries; Montana Brancott, Villa Maria, Cloudy Bay, and Allan Scott, plus to a number of other places to taste more wine, olive oil, and chocolate! Even Gill eventaully got into some tasting!
