(Ron Writing) This morning we drove a few miles south of Henrietta to Rush, NY where my friend and college roommate Larry and his wife Sue live. They have a beautiful home on several acres in a semi-rural area. It’s a quiet peaceful place with all sorts of birds, deer, and other wildlife. Elena even spotted a fox in their backyard. The backyard has a creek and pond filled with fish and turtles.

Larry and Sue took us on a driving tour of the Rochester area and our first stop was Wegmans. Wegmans is a regional chain of grocery stores. They started in this area and we visited their “flagship” store which was the largest and most interesting grocery store we’ve ever seen. They have the widest selection in every department plus some very unusual items not found in most grocery stores. There is a full service restaurant plus a huge deli and buffet style restaurant where you can select from large variety of prepared foods and then pay for them by the pound.

We enjoyed looking around the store and then Larry and Sue treated us to a buffet lunch.

Our driving tour took us up to Lake Ontario and the Ontario Beach Park. We took a walk around the park and out onto the pier enjoying the great weather and the aromas of a regional BBQ competition. Our last stop was a treat at Abbotts Frozen Custard Shop right at the edge of the park.

We left Larry and Sue's residence late this afternoon and drove to the Syracuse, NY area. We are parked for the night at Sam’s Club in Liverpool, NY.

We had a very enjoyable day with friends who we hadn’t seen in perhaps 10 years or so. None of us could remember for sure how many years it has been since we had last been together.
