heading off to Bowling Green, KY

This battlefield gave me the chills to visit. A distant relative died from fighting in this battle. The battle was on October 8, 1862 (almost exactly 150 years ago!) Yes, my father's side of the family were Confederates. I had four relatives fight in the Civil War, two died. My cousins who live in Atlanta are researching all our ancestors on my Taylor's side of the family. Quite interesting. My cousin will be sending a photo of George V. Van Hoose to the battlefield historical researcher for their records. The park service has a program at the visitor's center to do personal research on, which I did. Found out two of my relatives fought at Perryville! That is really neat to find out.
