Retirement: World's longest coffee break. travel blog

We missed our annual backcountry ski trip to Mistaya Lodge in 2014 and were very happy to get back again. In addition to Neville from New Zealand/Brisbane/Montevideo, we were joined by Ena and John, their friend Jim from White Horse, Bette and Bob from Saskatoon and Jay and Alex from Ottawa. Dave and Eirik did the guiding and Grant cooked up some wonderful meals. We had been a bit worried about the snow pack because of the long strech of warm weather but arrived to find that there had been enough new snow to cover up the crust. After a really good avalanche safety session, we set out on what would turn out to be the only blue sky day of the trip. Wonderful scenery and wonderful turns from the top of Mista Vista. We were treated to views of the spire under the full moon that night. The next 4 days were snow, snow and more snow. Close to 50cm in total while we were there. That meant that we couldn't get up onto the glaciers but we did some pretty amazing tree skiing. Great skiing, great food and great company. That's why we keep going back!
