The 4 Man Wolfpack travel blog

We got up the next morning and had no plan as to where we were heading. I had booked the ferry from Lewes, Delaware to cape may, New Jersey at 12.45pm. So we had brekky but the pool and started the hour drive to Lewes.

Lewes was a beautiful small town, where i finally got to mail my postcards as we found the post office. We had coffee and milk shakes and had a short look around. Lewes has a 400 year old house that has survived being shot by a cannon, pirate invasion and fire. Once again the small streets were lined with boutiques, antique shops and historical sites. We would have liked to spend longer there but we were booked on to the ferry.

The ferry ride was 90 minutes and we were accompanied by dolphins swimming alongside. We took a drive into cape may and had lunch, I had my first crab cake, I am sure many crabs died for that meal. Cape May was extremely busy but had a really nice vibe. We wandered the Washington mall and visited the welcome centre to ask about accommodation.

We got a room and family room at Seacrest. It was a lot dearer than we had been paying, $245, but it was fairly central. The girls hit the beach, the waves were pretty non existent but it was nice to wade in it. The beach was lined with ready made shades which were multicoloured and looked great. We then went to the pool and had a relaxing swim.

Once we had dressed for dinner and it had cooled down a little we walked to the mall to have a look at the restaurants. We decided on Italian at A Cia Mia. Brett's rack of lamb and 8 cutlets, I had salmons, Molly had steak and Lilli had lasagne. Another bottle of napa valley red was consumed and we wandered the mall after dinner. It was still really busy. The shops stay open till 11pm, it was much more pleasant than during the hot day.

At Cape May, the sun rises and sets over the sea as it is the southernmost point of NJ. they have sunset ceremonies each night.

It was a nice place to spend our last night, however it think we could have done better with the accommodation.

Currently we are sitting at La Guardia airport awaiting our 4 hour flight to Dallas, from there we fly 16 hours to Brisbane, arriving at 5am Friday. So it is all over. Brett drove the 4 hours from Cape May to NY this morning and we returned the rental car and were shuttled here.

Update. After delays at both ends we arrived in Dallas with 10 mins to spare. Waiting to board 16 hour flight home.
