Astoria Bridge to Washington in the distance

You do a 270 degree ramp to get here.

That's a long bridge.

Here we are in Washington!

A pose at the North Head Lighthouse.

We are going in.

And up.

60 some steps later.

Photo of Mamu taking a photo of us.

Up the coast.

Down the coast, Columbia River in the distance.

Lighthouse keepers residence.

Visiting Musuem....What's this?

Cape Disappointment Lighthouse. No we didn't go up.

Getting the info.

Pappa had to lower the scope.

Station Camp where Lewis & Clark first stayed.

Our plans changed. We were looking at the week ahead and decided since it was the weekend we would just stay another night here is Astoria. The kids love it here. We also wanted to visit one more state park and take the kids to visit the lighthouse at Cape Disappointment which is actually about 12 miles from camp. It is across the river in Washington.

Cape Disappointment is the location where Lewis and Clark succeeded in reaching the Pacific in 1805. It is where the Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean. This is where the decision was made to find a favorable site for their winter encampment (Ft. Clatstop).

The Columbia River is over four miles wide at this point and pours in the ocean at twice the volume as is carried to the Atlantic from the Mississippi.

It's a beautiful area our pictures does not do it justice.

The kids got to climb to the top of the lighthouse. This was the first time they had seen or visited an actual lighthouse. Ava's comment was that she knew what is was because they had one in a ScoobyDoo movie. She soaked up all the info she could. Jay was more interested in the hands on activities and getting back to the campground. We can tell that they are getting homesick. Especially Jay.

We do not know why some of the pictures turned out blue. In case you had not notice, we are not very good photographers.
