Reggi and Chef Ben Ford

On day two of Lettuce Days, Reggi entered the "Heat it Up with Chef Ben Ford", Chef Ford is the son of Harrison Ford the actor (Star Wars - Hans Solo and Raiders of the Lost Arc series" to name a couple) As a chef and restaurateur (he owns the "Ford's Filling Station" in Culver City, California) Ford is known not only for his creative techniques, but for celebrating the cycle of life and freshness of the earth through his choice and treatment of ingredients. That makes him a great match for Yuma, which during the winter months supplies more than 90 percent of the nation's leafy vegetables. In fact, Yuma County ranks third in the nation for vegetable production, and its annual agricultural output of more than $3.2 billion accounts for more than a third of the total production for the state of Arizona.

Reggi made a "Blood Orange Salsa", hers was the only one that was not made in a blender. As you can see from the pictures, the salsa was very colorful and it had an edible Marigold on top. Reggi placed second and won a Salsa Bowl autographed by Chef Ford.
