We departed Danbury CT on the morning of June 20 and headed east arriving at Winter Island Park in Salem MA in the afternoon.

This is a small park that is right on the water with a couple of small beaches. There also is a nice walking path around the perimeter of the park.

We took a trolly ride from the park into Salem and walked around the area checking out the local farmers market and nearby shops.

Friday Included a trip along scenic RT 127 from Salem into Gloucester where we visited Cape Ann Brewing. The aroma from the smoker was something we could not pass by, and we stopped for pulled pork sandwiches and sampled a couple of their local brews.

Saturday we returned to Gloucester to visit Tom’s sister and brother in law. It was a cooler overcast day, but we had a great time catching up. We were treated to a wonderful meal, and desert. We also delivered a variety of the craft brews we had gathered along our journey thus far for them to sample.

Sunday we caught up on some shopping and when we returned to the park, the place was packed. The we’re having a Greek Picnic as a fund raiser for one of the local churches. They had a live band playing some old Greek music, and they were cooking all kinds of great smelling food. We joined in and were treated to a wonderful meal and traditional Greek music played by a live band.

Monday evening we returned to Gloucester for another wonderful meal at Cape Ann Brewing with my sister and brother in law. The meal and the visit were wonderful, and sharing this day was very special. It was an early birthday present for and, it also was one year ago on June 25 2017 that Tom worked his last shift @MPD.

Today, June 26, one year ago was Tom’s official last day at work. Where did that year go??!!!

On to our next adventure so stay tuned....
