We arrive in Alleppey after a 2 hour train ride in a ac car with seats, A tuk tuk to a restaurant for some breakfast then on to a boat for a 1 hour ride up the river to the village where our homestay was at, a short walk and we arrived there, nice place have nice room in main house with bathroom. After checking in we are off to the main town in tuk tuks for lunch and a couple of beers, some shopping for a few extra things, etc. bottled water, some candy, and of course some beer for the evening then back to homestead. A bit of relax time before we head off fishing in the river not much luck our tour leader Dennis caught a couple small ones, back to homestay for a local dinner with the family. They have a 4 acre farm where they grow rice, have a small garden and they have few goats and some chickens. Had a nice rain to cool things off during the evening some of the group watched a cricket match on TV, but I went bed early. Up early next morning for another chance at fishing again not much luck. Took a small motorized boat around some of the waterways then off again in a smaller canoe padding into smaller areas of the river, back for lunch very basic rice with different sauces, fish, bread and bananas. Rest time in afternoon as it is hot and muggy, in the late afternoon we take a walk through the village with a local guide then back to the homestay for a couple beers before dinner. This place also has rolling power outages which happened at dinner, so after dinner no power for the TV or fans so we set on the front porch an watch the lighting storm and watched the rain, a few more beers and then off to bed, had a slow rain most of the night. up early for a quick breakfast and off to the boat dock for a 1 hour trip back to the railroad station for our trip on to Kochi.
