We are always on a quest for some sort of surf, and this coast of France is the heart of Europe's surf scene. Unfortunately summer is not the prime surf season so the beaches were flat. But, what summer lacks in surf it makes up for with beautiful beach weather. It is hard to believe that the ocean actually gets warm this far north, but it was, and the beaches were full of people.

We took the 200 MPH TGV train to Bordeaux and then rented a little car to see what we could find...

A little side note on the car rental. Marc likes the fast speed limits, and cruising around the windy roads at the equivalent of 100 MPH, but there is absolutely no parking, anywhere! One night our little Mercedes was hit by another car while it was parked on the street. The very next day, we moved our car to what seemed like a better spot and it got towed! (That wasn't cheap) But we always try to find a positive side to every mishap. We found out that we could leave our car in the impound yard for several days at no extra charge, so we did. It was the only free, secure, and convenient parking we could find! I think we'll stick to commercial transport from now on!
