Lincoln

We awoke to a magnificent blue sky and sunshine, and the plan was to catch the train to Lincoln and do a spot of shopping. Off we trotted - a good 35 -40 minute walk to the station. The train was due at 10.50 and we arrived at the station with 10 minutes to spare. The next thing we know the train has left and we didn't even know it had arrived!!!. The train between Newark and Lincoln is only one carriage and we were at the top end of the platform, not registering that it was a tiny thing, so we missed it. And had to wait until 12.06 for the next one. We all know what the station announcements sound like, mostly garbled, so listening carefully we managed to board the next train.

We wandered around and had lunch and then while Tony went to the Phone shop to try and sort out his Sim/data etc I went off to Debenhams and bought a few things. The shop was full of customers and he was still waiting to be served when I returned and was getting a head of steam up, so he decided to leave the shop and do it when we got back to Newark.

Another wander around and then caught the train back to Newark.

It's interesting to note that the ticket cost for a single trip from Newark to Lincoln is £5.10 and a return ticket is £6.00!!!!
