As we were going to Bard to visit the Imperial Date Garden, The largest Medjool date producer in the world. We saw a hot air balloon in the sky. The history behind this date is based upon the fact the Maracco's Medjool date trees had been infected with a fatal disease, so they sent 12 tree to the USA and Imperial Date Gardens owners got 6 of the trees. Medjool dates are harvested in August. Once harvested, they store the date at minus 9 degree until needed, they can be kept in a freezer for up to two years, in a refrigerator for up to six months. Medjool dates are the best, very sweet nature's candy.

We went to the West Wetlands, a former landfill, where there is a monument to the Mormon Battalion of the Army of the West. The area is a great place to walk and see lots.

We went to the Yuma landing Restaurant, which is located at the site of the first landing of an airplane, under its own power, in Arizona. It also was the site to the flight endurance record of 46 days and 20 hours set From August 24 to October 10, 1949. this record held until January 1959.
