Soooo. Note to self. Even though every Fijian swears about being on the same time zone as New Zealand... Its not half the year. How Jason and I were in Auckland for almost 18 hours and didn't realize this? You got me but somehow... it must be Jason's fault. Only realized it untill we missed our bus heading up to the Bay of Islands later that day. This however gave us a few extra hours to go jump off a 650ft building in down town to get the blood going. Kiwi's are fucking crazy. Good times though. Having trouble finding a fully equipted computor to load images so will have to update them later.
Arriving in Auckland was a relief. We stayed at a place called X Base (or take it to the BASE! for those of you on the inside of that joke). The only downside was the discovery of bed bugs. Auckalnd holds approximately 1/4 of New Zealands population and it shows. Despite a nice harbour area for drinks and dinner the only thing to do was to jump off the skytower and head for some islands to the North.
The Bay of Islands was good decision, although based on the recommendation of an Irish man, we tanned in the sun on the trampoline of an 80 person catameran, went swimming and met some annoying people from Kansas City. Surprisingly there are many more Americans down here than we expected. Taking the bus was a bad decision, the countryside here is just so amazingly beautiful that you want to stop and soak it all in as opposed to listening to books on tape in a crammed public bus. We won't make that mistake again.
