We wake bright and early and after a good breakfast are ready at 9am to meet our guide for the day and evening that we booked on the internet.

It's a bright sunny day and we look forward to some sightseeing. By 9:30 still no sign of guide so I contact the GAP guide to ask if he could check for me. The guide had forgotten we were coming but arrived at 10.10 and we went off to Sugar loaf mountain and cable car.

She took us to the Cathedral in downtown and the on the tram ride to Santa Teresa district. We went to the Samba museum and where the Samba schools parade in Carnival.

In the afternoon we went on the cog train to Corcovado and the statue of Christ the Redeemer and the Tijuca forest and then visited the beaches of Leblon, Ipanema and Copacabana.

After a short rest at the hotel and the initial meet of the gap tour group we went off to dinner and the Plataforma Samba show.

If I can upload some photos you will see.

When we got back to the hotel at midnight it was time to get ready for tomorrow, the first full day of the tour.
