Wednesday morning we accompanied Grace to her school where we toured the facilities and met a lively bunch of six-year-old students. They seemed pretty obsessed with the recent Spiderman movie and pretending to shoot each other with imaginary webs but they also did a good job of identifying shapes and asking us questions in English (Grace teaches conversational english classes to all six levels of students and sponsors an English Club). We met Grace's principal, Principal Wong who welcomed us to Hong Kong and told us how much she appreciates Grace's work. She even gave us commemorative anniversary pens and calculators!
We took a bus to a nearby mall to fuel up on Starbucks while we waited for Grace to finish her school day. The shopping centers are enormous here and you can find shopping just about everywhere that you look -- in office buildings, train stations, and hotels. We were also impressed by the use of bamboo scaffolding in all of the construction projects. We took a few pictures of construction at the mall. We met up with Grace for lunch at a chinese restaurant near her school. We sampled a wide variety of dim sum and I (Kristin) tried to master using chop sticks without embarrassing herself...(rather unsuccessfully, I'm afraid). After lunch, we took a train to Hong Kong Island to explore the Central, Soho, and Financial Center districts.
