It took about 12 hours to get from Ko Chang to Siem Reap: Clearing both Thai and Cambodian borders and changing buses after the Cambodian border. We arrived in Siem Reap around 8pm and chose to stay at the European Guesthouse for $12 USD a night. That included 2 twin beds, cable tv, hot shower and free breakfast. The guesthouse is located in the Wat Bo area and about a 10 minute walk to the old town. The currency exchange rate in Cambodia is 4,000 riel to 1 USD, but visitors can basically pay anywhere in dollars. Felt pretty strange to use USD again after almost a year of not! A decent meal here costs anywhere from $1.50- $3.00 USD not including drink, but you can find the local Angkor beer for 50-75 cents if you look hard enough. The language spoken here is Khmer and also the food.

The reason for a stop in Siem Reap was to see the gem and heart of South east Asia - The Angkor Wat ruins and temples. There are literally hundreds of temples and ruins that area scattered around the area and jungles here. Jamie and I planned on spending 3 days to explore the main temples and see what else we could.
