Bader Plaque

Viaduct from CAstle

Flora

On our walk through Sprotbrough we spotted this plaque commemorating the house that Sir Douglas Bader lived = he was a fighter pilot during the war.

Last night we met up with some people we met while in the Newark Marina last year and have kept in touch with. This is a friend of theirs spending the weekend on their boat at Sprotbrough, This is their dog, Edith who has a fantastic grip on her stick.

We went under this viaduct today - goodness knows how many hundreds of thousands of bricks were used in it's construction.

We moored up for the afternoon at Mexbrough Low Lock and set off on a walk to look at Conisbrough Castle.

We sat on the grass in front of the castle and ate our picnic lunch then went and had a walk around the castle.

This is the viaduct taken from the roof of the castle.

We returned to the boat and set off for another mooring which wasn't to our liking so went a bit further and have ended up on a lock mooring for the night at Swinton.
