James & Christine Round the World 2008 travel blog

After a leisurely breakfast we checked out of the motel and Ian & Audrey dropped us off at the airport. We had plenty of time before our Pacific Blue flight and looked forward to seeing Wellington again.

The flight was only an hour and the country was mainly covered in cloud until we landed at Wellington and the sun shone.

Christine was surprised when Ian Horne met her at the arrivals area and we went to collect the rental car. The car is a little disappointing and seems to consume petrol at a rapid rate but the rate is lower than it was 3 years ago so we can't complain. Petrol is about 167 cents per litre which is roughly 62 pence a litre so a lot cheaper than the UK.

Ian gave us instructions on how to find the house at Waikanae that we are using for the next two weeks and then we went to Kelburn at the top of the Wellington cable car for lunch looking out over Wellington.

We had no trouble finding the house and were able to catch up on the laundry. The house adjoins the beach and has a glorious view over the coast. We are very fortunate to have such friends who are prepared to lend us their home.

Ian joined us after work in the evening and we enjoyed catching up with each others news. Cindy is away for the weekend so we look forward to catching up with her on Sunday night when she gets back.
