The River

Lock water 2

Egret

Cormorant

We're back on the river and wider canals - hooray.

Although the canal was lovely it's great to have some space and much deeper water.

We had 7 locks today - all electric operated, so just turn the key and push buttons and it all happens automagically!

They are huge locks and use an awful amount of water - we did share a couple of them with another boat.

We had aimed to stay at Castleford tonight, but there wasn't any mooring space available so we had to travel for another hour to Ferry Bridge. That's the only problem with the rivers - no places to pull up on the banks.

We had a thunder storm last night with some rain and another one this morning, so it's made it very muggy and sticky. The temperature has been around 30 deg, which really isn't a problem for us (just don't like the humidity), but the Poms can't cope with it and the hospitals are full of dehydrated, sunburnt idiots.
