Ron & Elena's 2007-2010 Travels travel blog

(Ron Writing) This morning we packed-up Da Honu and headed south. We first stopped at the nearby town of Marysville to gas-up the truck at Costco. The gas there was much less expensive than we’ve been paying recently, “only” $3.519/gal. That’s the lowest we’ve paid since May 8 when we were still in KS. I hope this downward trend in prices continues. The highest price we’ve paid for gas was $4.469 in Yellowstone NP, but we only bought a few gallons at that price. We only had to pay over $4/gal on 8 occasions and, aside from those few gallons in Yellowstone, the highest we paid was $4.189.

We headed south on I-5 today through some very heavy traffic. It reminded us why we prefer being out in the country on secondary highways. We intended to stop at the Museum of Flight at Boeing Field but they don’t have any RV parking so we decided to skip that for this time. We had also planned to take a tour of the Boeing assembly plant while in this area but that tour has been suspended due to the ongoing labor strike. I guess we’ll just have to make another trip up here sometime.

It was quite clear until later in the afternoon and we had some beautiful views of snow-covered Mt. Rainier to the southeast. We drove as far as Lacey, just east of Olympia, before we stopped to do a little shopping. We are parked for the night at Wally*World.
