Rte 60/77 Globe to Show Low

I left Owen's apartment at 10am and drove to the storage place where the coach is parked. The beeping sound was still happening intermittently even after I shut the aux battery along with the main battery - so - a call to Fleetwood service was in order. Apparently the house battery is low and that is what is setting off the alarm. So I stayed for almost 45 minutes and ran the generator. Owen will have to do this every 30 days or so (along with starting the engine and checking a few other odds and ends.)

By noon I was back on the road heading east to Globe , Show Low, and Holbrook where I made a right turn onto US 40 toward Albuquerque. The road to Globe is a very scenic one -one that I have driven several times - but the road from Globe to Holbrook was new and wonderful! I missed Tom more with every passing mile because we used to love to pull over and gawk at the beauty of the desert and mountains. I pulled into a scenic overlook today and met a couple from New Jersey who went to college in Providence RI and law school in Chicago. There was a lot of material there for a very interesting conversation.

The views from Globe to Show Low were outstanding - that all changed on the Show Low to Holbrook section of the same road - flat and not very attractive. There was so little traffic today I was actually able to slow down and take a couple of pictures while I was driving!. Nothing like having the whole road to oneself!

When I reached US 40 I once again got to see those gorgeous Red Rocks of New Mexico. I thought I would stop for the night in Gallup but I wasn't tired so I drove another 60 miles to Grants where I am settled in at a Holiday Inn Express. Lost an hour when I crossed over into New Mexico so it was 7pm by then. I am hoping to be back on the road by 9am tomorrow. So far so good.
