All set up and relaxing.

We had a short 160 mile drive into the Adirondack Mountains on a beautiful winding road. We are camped at the North Pole Campground in Wilmington, NY. Yes, it is the third North Pole we have been to in our travels. Although the town of North Pole and amusements are 5 miles away, this is a beautiful Good Sam(discount)campground that has all the amenities and is well maintained. We can view Whiteface Mt. from our CG. The ski runs for the Olympics are there.

We are located about 8 miles north of Lake Placid. We drove through there on the way. It would seem you can not buy a parking spot in town. They have a shuttle from the campground to Lake Placid. They are preparing for the Lake Placid Ironman Race this coming Sunday, which the bike and run portions go right past our campground. We decided we will leave here Saturday and get out of the way of all the congestion that the race will bring. That still gives up plenty of time to see the area.

We probably won't go far when we do leave here. The Adirondack covers a large portion of the state.
