Before the bridge, they ran a ferry here. How are these for...

We crossed the Mississippi River today so are now, I suppose, officially headed “west". After stopping in El Dorado to do laundry (sorry but I’m not real impressed with this town – also known as the “Oil Capital of Arkansas”) we drove over to Moro Bay State Park. Although there are only 20 campsites, Moro Bay State Park is a lovely facility and someplace we would definitely visit again.

This state park has some very nice camping trails, a convenient grocery store/gift shop, and clean restroom/shower facilities. We also enjoyed learning about the ferry that operated until 1992 when the two bridges were completed over the Ouachita River and Raymond Lake. Just think… a ferry ran from 1834 until 1992… that is a long time before they built a bridge there.

So far our journey this week has included lovely blooming trees and flowers. Despite our stuffy heads from all the pollen, we are having a very enjoyable time. From here we will head to Mount Pleasant, TX, for a brief visit with my parents then onto Livingston to take care of dental/medical visits.
