Crystal Falls along WA-20 east of Colville, WA.

The Wal*Mart in Colville has a very large parking lot and we've...

View of the sunset from our "front yard" tonight. Beautiful half-moon.

Sunset over Wally World.

(Ron Writing) This morning we worshipped at the Sandpoint United Methodist Church. The church was founded in 1897 – quite a history. It’s small friendly church with a new pastor. We enjoyed our fellowship.

We decided to have our big meal at noon today. We went to dinner at Connie’s Cafe in Sandpoint (thanks Herb). Elena’s turkey dinner and my roast pork diner were both very good.

We left Sandpoint this afternoon on US-2 south. This route follows along the north side of the Pend Oreille River. This river is the outlet for water from Lake Pend Oreille. It’s a beautiful area and all along both sides of the wide river there are very nice homes. But we have noticed an abundance of properties for sale everywhere we’ve been in northern ID both in the towns and out in the rural areas.

Just west of the town of Priest River, ID we crossed into Washington and got on WA-20 north. Both US-2 and WA-20 are part of the Selkirk Loop we mentioned a couple days ago when we drove part of the east side of the loop. WA-20 also follows the Pend Oreille River as it flows north into Canada. We drove the Selkirk Loop as far as Tiger, WA where WA-20 turns west and the Loop continues north on WA-31 on into Canada. WA-20 west follows the Little Pend Oreille River up into the Selkirk Mountains and through the Pend Oreille National Wildlife Refuge. This was another beautiful drive through some very healthy forests.

Late this afternoon we arrived in Colville, WA where we are spending the night at Wally World. The weather today was just about perfect with temperatures in the low 70’s and mostly sunny.
