It was a clear day so we decided we would drive into the mountains along the River Tech Valley.
We stopped for a stroll around the small town of Céret which had an element of charm but still with the French shabbiness. We then drove a side road off the main road with views down the valley. We then continued along the road to Prats-de-Mollo passing a site of a major landslide in 1940. The scaring on the hillside could still be seen.
From Prats-de-Mollo we climbed up through the surrounding hills to the Col d’Ares which was the old border between France and Spain before returning the way we came. The views going up to the col were stunning with views across the surrounding hills and peaks of the Pyrenees.
