Happy New Year.

Today we decided to drive the rest of the coast from Collioure to the Spanish border. However we decided just past Collioure to take a side ride that took us into the Albères hills. The road was narrow with sheer drops but the views despite the cloudy weather were excellent.

We returned to the coastal road at Port Vendres and then went along the coast enjoying the views up to the Col des Balistres, the border between Spain and France(but no longer a border post). It was here during the Spanish Civil war that thousands of refugees crossed into France and there was a small display at the border which told their story.

We then returned along the coast road stopping at Banyuls-sur-Mer for a stroll and a drink and then drove the road (narrow) to Cap Béar and explored the headland. By this time the sun was shining.
