|This was our last full day in New York. We headed into Times Square and had breakfast at Applebee's. We caught the subway to the south ferry to go to The Statue of Liberty. We were straight on to a ferry for the 15 minute ride to Staten Island. It was another hot day but we enjoyed wandering around the giant statue and taking snaps. The line to get off the island was huge, we had to wait at least 40 minutes, the ferries came regularly but the line was too long.
Brett headed back to Harlem to work out a car rental for our departure the next day and the girls and I headed to the IMAX theatre to see monsters university. We appreciated sitting down for a couple of hours, we have walked for hours every day and were all feeling it. We had our first rain experience since entering the country, we happily walked in the rain while the locals took shelter.
Back in Harlem we brought some fruit and yoghurt (and Budweisers) for dinner and packed up ready to depart the next day. Our raccoon visitors hadn't returned but we did have a squirrel at our back door.
I forgot to write that on our first night in NY it was July 4 and the celebrations were on, we watched the fireworks on TV but from the street we could see the Empire State Building which was coloured red white and blue for the day.
Ps Jill, am glad to hear you are giving the buds a try. We are paying $7.49 a 6 pack here, I bet they are dearer in Australia.
