Robyn Gettin Down in Asia Town 2007! travel blog

So here I am, stuck in Bangkok again. I took an early morning bus to get here, checked into my hotel, and went straight to the Myanmar embassy to apply for my visa. The line up was huge, and they didn't seem to be in a hurry to get us through. Closing time was nearing and there was at least 6 people ahead of time. Crap, I was going to have to come back the next day, and then Voila! They opened another counter and things finally started moving. None of us are quite sure why they didn't do that earlier in the day, but no matter, we made it.

I spent the following 3 days getting organized and bumping into all sorts of people I had met earlier in my trip. The wonders of Khao San Road. International meeting grounds. Even more of a surprise, when I arrived at the airport, early early on the 1st, there was Narinder, the girl I'de lived with for 2 weeks at the orphanage. She was on her way back to Canada, and seeming none to sad about it. I guess two weeks at Baan Dada's was enough. It was great to see her. I got to catch up on the gossip, and she told me she'de used some of my pictures in a newsletter she'de put together. I'll post a link to it when it's available.

And now?! Off to Myanmar!, after a night in a lush but cheap hotel I found near the airport. The most comfortable bed yet, and a clean swimming pool! Aaah, the simple luxuries.
