Lake Tahoe is so very blue except in some of the shallow areas where it is an emerald color, and it is beautiful. I have never seen this kind of deep blue in any body of water before today. It is also the largest alpine lake in the country.

South Tahoe is a very busy area with lots of traffic and congestion, but I did find a quiet little public park off the beaten path where I spent some time this morning. While there I met George and Joan Blednick from Huntington, Long Island. I took several pictures for them on their camera, and then they gave me some good advice about where to go in the area to get great pictures.

One of those areas is the Incline Village area at the Mt. Rose Scenic Overlook. The other is a gondola called the Heavenly Gondola which transports you up to 9,136 ft where you can hang out and enjoy the view, or go on any of several hikes ranging from one to four miles. They say that the views are out of this world.

Today I drove to the Incline Village area and took a number of pictures from the Mt Rose Scenic Overlook which I've posted. Later in the week I'll go back and do the gondola thing when I have most of the day to devote to it. I plan to do at least the four mile hike, and maybe all of the hikes if time and energy permit.

Along the way to Incline Village I drove thru Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park on the National Scenic Byway. There are numerous stopping places at viewpoints where you can take pictures as well as walk down to the lake. I took a bunch of pictures at these viewpoints and have posted a lot of them.

It is much cooler in the Lake Tahoe area than in Carson City. It seemed like it was in the 70's today, whereas in Carson City it has been in the 90's everyday so far. It does, however, cool down very quickly when the sun goes down.

Very nice full hookup campground for only $24.00 per nite, which I'm sure has to do with the fact that it is affiliated with a casino, and they think that they'll get some of my money there. Wrong! They do have a very good restaurant, however, that I'll likely check out.
