The further we travel south, the hotter it gets. Today we are in Rocamadour and the forecast for today is 35 degrees.

We arrived yesterday afternoon after stopping at Lascaux for a guided tour (in English) of a very impressive and accurate reproduced cave containing the replicas of artwork believed to be 20,000 years old. It was a fascinating tour. There are many caves in the area containing art of this age but many of the original caves are now closed off to tourism to protect the art.

We are here in Rocamadour for a couple of days and this is another remarkable village, this one built into caves on the side of very steep cliffs. Built around the church, the town is well known for its pilgrimages going back to the 1100's. Our accommodation sits on the high side of a hill looking back down into the valley and the old part of the town on the other side of the valley. It only took about 15 minutes to walk down to the medieval city.
