|We drove up the coast and I have, thus far, seen the most beautiful sites of my life. I grew up flying everywhere, and had yet, until now, been able drive and experience travel on such a different level. We were in such awe by this leg of the trip. The redwoods are beyond what I could even imagine. As soon as you step in to these forests, the temperature drops, light dims and it becomes almost silent. You become one with nature and your voices drop to a whisper.
We traveled through several small towns, with populations as low as 50. We stayed overnight in Garberville with a population of 900. It was apparently named by USA Today as the 'marijuana heartland of the US.' It's great to see such a different relaxed lifestyle. We continued on through Myers Flat, Fortuna and Ferndale, CA. We have definitely slowed our travel pace down as we want to stop and take it all in.
We are going to try and camp at Patricks Point in Humboldt County. We shall see if this is possible with rain. We have become used to rolling with our home on wheels and whatever that may bring!
