Haystack Rock

Views across the Beach

We travelled just under a hundred miles today, but what a hair raising start to the journey, we had to travel on the interstate through Portland, well I thought that would be easy. We were on some road systems 4 flyovers stacked on top of each other winding round and round and at some stage we were on the outside on a slant with the RV behind us the skyscrapers were looming high beside us, fantastic to see, no pictures as eyes on the road at all times directing Wal which way to go, at some places it was liking to the M25 but 10 times worse. When we were on the bends it was like the cars on the curves of a scalectrix, some of this was above the river as well.

Well now we are beside the sea, as you can see from the pictures the beach was covered in birds it looked fantastic a photographers dream the Pelicans were lovely and loads of them, different gulls and some other birds as well. We were not expecting to see this,we wandered down to the beach to see The Haystack Rock, it stands as the World's third highest Monolith. Towering 235ft above sea level. We will be looking at this again when the tide is out as it has loads of sea creatures in the pools. It is protected wildlife refuge.
