Devils Den State Park is just 60 miles from Eureka Springs. Once you are off the main highway you are driving through many hairpin and switchback curves. That was fun in the motorhome. We will be taking another way out of the park.
We got there mid-morning and as we were signing in - Mary and Eric were coming down the trail to go hiking. How cool is it to meet up with your sister and husband without any pre-planning and both so far from home. That will teach you to mention your vacation plans to us. They are spending a few days in one of the cabins.
It's very nice park. 2500 acres with spectacular Ozark Mountain scenery. They have a park cafe, swimming pool, cabins and a mostly dried up 8-acre lake. Lots of hiking trails and very nice camping facilities. There were afternoon showers which kept it cool.
We all took a ride into the town of Fayetteville and ate dinner at Herman's BBQ. It was recommended in the cabin comments so we decided to try it. It's not an attractive building and I'm sure we would have just drove by is we didn't have the recommendation. The parking lot was full so we went in. It was very good and is a landmark restaurant for the area.
We only spent one night. We are heading home and didn't want to change Mary and Eric's vacation plans. It was a fun day and evening.
