We had rain most of the day. We just can't sit still so we took a ride out to check out Malabar Farm which is an Ohio State park.
Malabar Farm, located just outside of Mansfield Ohio, was built by Pulitzer Prize winning author Louis Bromfield a best-selling writer in the 1930s, 40s, and 50s, Bromfield was also a pioneer in sustainable farming. He created one of the country's first truly organic farms at Malabar. The house was the site of Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart's wedding and honeymoon as well as featured in the movie Shawshank Redemption
The farm exists just as it did in Bromfields time. It is still a working farm. It is a 32 room country farmhouse mansion built in 1939. The furniture is original, his suits are still hanging in the closet.
It was interesting and amazing to see so many rooms with today's type master bathrooms. We enjoyed the tour and even took a rainy tractor ride around the grounds.
We took a drive past the Mid Ohio Racetrack which was a weekend hang-out for Diana in the 60's. Then went back to the motorhome to warm up. Not use to damp rainy days.
From here we are heading to Lexington, Ky with a stop in Columbus to have dinner with Diana's brother and sister in-law.
