|Our return journey began with the 5 hour journey from Bishop to Ely,NV on desolate route 6. We saw about 12 cars the entire trip. The country was beautiful and desolate-no trees and only sagebrush. Massive brown hills arose in all directions. The rode was a ribbon of asphalt from skyline to skyline. We arrived in Ely at 1:30PM--The Ely KOA--out on the prairie. We dined at the Jailhouse (Restaurant) in downtown Ely. The place is an old jailhouse and we were seated in a jail cell with iron bars. A fun old historic cowboy town complete with the gambling parlors.
