We arrived in Traverse City on Sunday. We stayed at Traverse City State Park which is just off the highway. The beach in on one side of the highway and the campsites on the other. There is a walkway over the highway from the campsites to the beach area. Probably would not have picked this park if we had known about the highway noise. We stayed 3 nights.

Our first day was just a lazy day of doing laundry and nothing else. I think we were recouping from our 8 mile bike the day before.

The next day we went downtown and had lunch. Downtown is on Lake Michigan. We went to a marina and beach that is just a block or so away from the busy downtown area. Lots of expensive boats at the marina. Families were having a good time on the beaches. When you think of going to the beach you don't think of going downtown to a beach. Fun place to eat lunch if you work downtown.

On our last day in Traverse City we drove out to the peninsula. The drive takes you through cherry orchards, vineyards and small coastal townships and of course to a lighthouse. Lots of small fruit stands in people's driveways and wine tasting stops. We stopped at a general store for ice cream that made you feel like you were back 100 years ago.
