|Mike meets our son Kim and sons-in-law Jonathan and Mike in a little town (no longer a town) called Glen, MT just 20 miles north of Dillon right on the Big Hole River every year for Father's Day. They have a great week of fishing, gopher hunting, story telling and male bonding. NO females allowed! Jonathan and Mike had to go back to Seattle early so I was allowed to come up the night before the week was over to get to spend some time with Kim (short but oh so sweet). They all had a great time, did lots of damage to the gophers but not much to the fish as the rivers were still quite high. They have been going there for several years but this was my first time of seeing the area and it is so beautiful. The people who own the place where they stay, Dick and Linda have 2 cute little cabins and a place for motor homes as well as a tent area and are perfect hosts. We decided when we headed back to the Union Creek campground we wanted to see some new country so once again just took our time, driving through the central Idaho mountains (a first for us both), following the Salmon River and a portion of the Lewis and Clark Trail and the majestic Sawtooth Mountains. We spent one night in Salmon, Idaho where there is a museum for Sacajawea but sadly it was closed the hours we were in town. The next night was spent at a campground on the banks of Stanley Lake which is right at the foot of the Sawtooth's. Fields and fields of wild daisies, beautiful rivers and streams, grass up to your knees and old pole fences in the national forest. A must see trip if you ever get out that way. Once we arrived back at our summer home it was all hands on deck as the campground was getting busy since the weather had improved. It's been full most of the time and on the other hosts 2 days a week off, we're running all day but loving the people interaction and the nice weather. There are several things in the area that we hope to get time to go see while we're here and will keep you posted on those.
