Last night, I took a chance to capture a picture of Oracle Park, at least the top part, during a night game between the SF Giants and the Colorado Rockies. The first picture shows the not too bad result. Tonight, Sandy and I will attend a game between the same two Major League Baseball teams.

We decided to take a ferry over to Sausalito to see the quaint town. Prior to doing so, we spied a large amount of sea lions sunning themselves adjacent to Pier 39 at the Embarcadero. Not only having them in immediate proximity to humans surprised us, but also the large number of them. You'll see a picture of this sight.

Also included in this update are pictures of Alcatraz with plenty of tourists milling about and what I think is a pretty cool picture of a Navy vessel with Alcatraz in the background.

As we left Pier 41, I took a picture of Coit Tower on the right, the Tansamerica Pyramid on the left, and the Salesforce Tower in the center. I thought this a fairly unique picture of San Francisco's major downtown edifices. The ferry stopped in Tiburon prior to docking in Sausalito. Included are some pictures of very nice looking waterfront homes, even some with views across the bay to San Francisco. Not too shabby living there!

Also included are pictures of hillside homes in Sausalito and the town's park. Sandy and I learned that a prior Mayor of Sausalito was Sally Stanford, who had a devoted dog named Leland. For those not familiar with San Francisco's history, the Leland Stanford mansion stands on Nob Hill, and Stanford founded Stanford University. Of course, Sally was not at all related to Leland, her dog's name notwithstanding. She adopted the surname in lieu of her own name of Mabel Janice Busby, probably because even though she was very active in Sausalito politics and town planning, she was also famous for running a notorious brothel in San Francisco for nine years. See how much one can learn through travel?

One of the Sausalito pictures is of striking shoes in a store window. It made me wonder how many women would opt to wear them. I did not dare inquire about the price, but rest assured they were probably expensive.

Tomorrow we head for Napa, California where according to the weather report the high temperature will be 100 degrees. WOW! Thanks for reading.

Addendum: We went to Oracle Park, walking over a mile from our hotel, and had absolutely great seats, in fact the best Sandy or I ever had at an MLB ballpark. There were numerous salutes to presumably retiring Giants manager, Bruce Bochy, with even Hall of Famer Joe Torre doing a recording and then attending the game in person. We left at the bottom of the 8th inning with the game tied 5-5, and last we heard it was still that score into the 14th inning. The Giants have a compact, but very nice baseball park, and we thoroughly enjoyed our baseball outing.
