This is a NO REST vacation!!!!!! Up at 6am out the door to get coffee at 8am then on the subway to Battery Park and the State of Liberty. We had no problem riding the subway. We got on at 47th St (by the Olive Garden) took the yellow R toward Downtown and got off at Whitehall St. We had reservations to go to the Pedestal at 12. Cost was $14 pp senior rate. The view from the Pedestal was wonderful. It was a climb of 195 steps up but we took the elevator up and walked down, easier that way! Took lots of pictures!!! Visited Castle Clinton and walked thru Battery Park. Got a bite to eat at the cafe. Susan and I split a sandwich and Julie got a New York Hot Dog and fries. Didn’t want to eat too much because we are going on a dinner cruise down the Hudson River for Susan’s birthday tonite. We did not have time on the trip back to the main land to stop at Ellis Island, maybe next time. Subway back to the hotel to get ready for the dinner Cruise. Took yellow cab to Chelsea Pier, cost $15 in rush hour traffic. Checked in at Pier 61 and picked up tickets at the Spirit ticket box. Walked around the pier before boarding and found out that they actually brought survivors to this pier from the titanic! Exciting! Boarded the cruise boat at 6:30pm, leaving the dock at 7 for a 3 hour cruise. Looking at the evening skyline of New York City was absolutely breathtaking but the best was seeing the Statue of Liberty lite up at night as we circled around her. Pictures could not even capture the moment! Our meal on the boat included drinks, appetizers, entree and desert. Music was also provided by a Great group. They played a variety of music from dinner music to pop music later in the nite. We did experience a problem getting a cab back to the hotel as yellow city cabs are not aloud to go to the pier. We had to walk out to the main road to flag a cab which was not easy. Cost back to the hotel $10. Got back to hotel at 11:30pm. Tired!!!
