Houses of Parliament

St Paul’s Cathedral

Tower Bridge

After a 2 hour lay over at Singapore airport we arrived in London this morning at 5.30am to a dreary, drizzly day. Fortunately by the time we got to our hotel at Vauxhall the weather had cleared a bit so we dropped our bags and hit the pavement.

Over the Lambeth Bridge and along the Thames to the Houses of Parliament. Unfortunately there are conservation works happening so scaffold covered a fair bit of the building and nothing to be seen of Big Ben. We wandered over to Westminster Abbey, watched the changing of the Queens guard, stopped at Downing St, St Paul’s Cathedral then down the 20 Fenchurch St. to the fairly new Skygarden. Amazing views from the 30th floor amongst landscaped gardens. Beautiful. Crossed the London Bridge, headed over to the Tower Bridge then made our way over to the Borough Market (foodies heaven) for a well earned Pimms & beer. Wandered along Southbank past the London Eye back to our hotel.

Just had dinner at a cute little pub down the road and am now ready to catch up on some sleep in anticipation for more walking tomorrow.
