Ken and Liz on a bike travel blog

I thought I would have some photos to post this time around, but the computer in this internet cafe doesn't have the softare to download photos. That's a bummer, because I think I have some good ones to share. Maybe next time...

Since our last posting, we came out of Perugia, which was REALLY tough - the directionals were incomprehensible and traffic was...awesome! Less said the better.

From Perugia we pointed north toward San Giustino and San Sepolcro and encountered foul weather - sideways rain and the wind to go with it. Mostly rural with a little bit of urban riding, and we didn't quite make it to San Sepolcro - called it quits and checked into a hotel for a respite.

The next day we turned uo hwy 258 toward the Passo Viamaggio. What a ride! 20 km ascent into the clouds, topping out at 1095 mts, followed by a 45 km descent to sea lecel, through the clouds and rain and cold, through a river gorge with towering castles on either side, down onto the warm coastal plain. Truly memorable! We arrived at the hotel and Roger and Alisa Fisher were at the front door with the hotel owners to greet us. Quite the reception!

Here in Cesenatico everything is bicycles. Bikepaths, commuters, Giro d'Italia, Cycling Expo, and all along the Adriatic Riviera with miles and miles of beach, umbrellas and all the trappings of a MAJOR European resort region. We're not in Truckee, Toto...

Today we are off to see the Giro, in Cesena. Finish of stage 11 and start of Stage 12, tomorrow, in Cesena. We are here until Monday and then we will be off along the Po River towards Modena. Exact route to be determined...
