Smokey Mountains

Smokey Mountains 1

AB Campground

On the road again where we should be. This is our yearly vacation trip with the Zientek family, which last year was to Hocking Hills Ohio. This year we will visit the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee with Stephanie, John, Zach, Zane, Zeth, Zander and Zyler. Stephanie and John left on Friday evening to break the trip into 2 drives instead of one long drive on Saturday, they left Zane and Zander with us to ride to Gatlinburg so their van would not be so crowded. They drove to Lexington KY the first night and got a hotel room. We departed home at 6:45 am on Saturday in the motorhome for the 9 hour drive to Gatlinburg, we had Drue, Zane and Zander which slept most of the trip. Once we got into KY the gas prices dropped to around $3.39 per gallon compared to Toledo at $3.70 per gallon which makes a big difference when filling up the motorhome, good old Toledo, rip off the customer. We did stop in Jericho Tennessee at the visitor center for about an hour so everyone could get out and walk a bit, plus it was very warm for the kids in the motorhome because the AC in the front will not cool the entire motorhome.

We arrived around 5:30 pm at the Crazy Horse Campground in Gatlinburg. This campground is managed by Adventure Bound Camping and the pictures that are in the flyer makes this place look real good, but it works us because of all the free stuff for the kids. Stephanie and John were already there and had set up their tent on their site which was across the street from us, nice that they were close. The rest of the evening was have supper and just relax from the trip down, everyone made it a early night for some sleep.
