The Olson's Retirement RV Adventures

Welcome to my trip journal!

Who we are - Larry, Diana, our dog Sugar and you will see occasional pictures of Gophie. Gophie (a stuffed gopher) was Larry's office mascot that was retired when Larry retired. He is trying to visit as many states as possible for a gopher.

Our travels started in 2011 in a 1995 28ft Rexhall Aerbus. In 2013 we upgraded to a 2008 32ft Itasca Sunrise with our 2008 Saturn Vue still in tow. We are excited to share our trip and adventures along the way.
2019. This year we decided to road trip in our Ford Edge, instead of the Motorhome. The reason being that Diana has a brand new hip for one thing. The other is that we were just going to spend time with friends. The object is Montana, Idaho and Washington, then home. A little sight seeing along the way.

2018. This year is a shorter version of last year. We are again taking Ava to see Mount Rushmore and then again to Minnesota to see Larry's family. After that we intend to start heading home. Ava will return with us instead of flying home.
We decided to take a first cruise for our 40th anniversary. We joined a group from our Sun Lakes Travel Club and did a 14 day cruise through the Panama Canal.

2017. We are heading east with our granddaughter Ava. You will have to follow along to see where we end up. We aren't sure ourselves. Ohio and Niagara Falls are on our itinerary.

2016.We will pick up our Motorhome in Florida and head up the east coast. We have our grand-daughter Ava with us until the 28th of June. We will be wondering around the eastern US.

2016..We are off for a short winter trip to Florida. The main reason for this trip is to visit with Diana's sisters. One in San Antonio and one in Citrus Springs, Florida. We will gone about two months. Stand by..we plan a summer vacation up the east coast.

2015..We are off for a short vacation this summer. We have two grandkids with us again. Our plan is to spend the month of June exploring Utah. It's close to home and lots of National Parks to see. Diana is having knee replacement in July.

2014..There is a bit of 'winging it' this year. We have two grandkids with us and are heading west. First - The Grand Canyon and on to the coast and north through Northern California, Oregon and on to Seattle. The kids will meet up with their parents in Seattle. We need to be in Minnesota mid August for Larry's 50th class reunion. Which means we will be wondering across the Northern States. Almost forgot...we have a new family member "Marley",a Chihuahua mix we rescued. We are guessing he is about 10 months old.

2013..Heading east again with 3 grandkids. We will start with a couple weeks in Colorado and then to family in Minnesota. A little bit of a repeat of last years start. The kids fly home to Phoenix after the 4th of July and we will then head to Pennsylvania and Upstate New York.

2012..This year we are going to visit family in Minnesota with our two grandsons for a couple weeks. When they return home we will head to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and explore that area.

2011..For years we have been saying "our first trip after retiring will be to drive to Alaska". This is the year! The plan is to leave AZ mid May. With no time constraints or set agenda we will head north and see what new discoveries are along the way.
