June 19 - 29, 2019

Two years earlier, in June 2017, we decided to travel to the Yukon in order to visit Whitehorse for the first time, to fly around Mt. Logan (Canada’s highest peak) and to ride the famous White Pass and Yukon Railroad down to Skagway Alaska. We wanted to avoid the busy tourist season as well as the voracious black flies, so chose to travel in June and picked a period when we would be in the north for the Summer Solstice on June 21st. It turned out to be an unforgettable trip, and the highlight was definitely the train ride.

We were inspired to see even more of Alaska and to travel by train between Fairbanks and Anchorage with a stop in the Denali National Park. When reading about the optional tours available, we discovered one that would take us across the Arctic Circle for the first time ever. It seemed obvious to us that we needed to do that on the Summer Solstice as well.

And the rest is history…
