Don & Shelly's 2017-2018 Winter Trip

Shelly travel blog
Wow, what a fast summer. It's hard to believe that we are already packing and getting ready to head south again to our winter home in Texas.

We had a busy summer working with some golfing, camping and visiting thrown in for good measure. Don worked at Delage Farms this year where he worked a LOT of hours helping with seeding, spraying and harvest. I worked part-time at the gas station again and also at Delage Farms cooking for the crew during seeding and harvest.

We bought memberships at our local golf course this year so whenever we had a free moment we tried to fit in a game. Since we no longer have our business Don has been wanting to have a garage sale so June was pretty much spent sorting and pricing stuff for the garage sale. I wouldn't let him do much of anything else until it was done. In July we drove out to BC to visit Don's dad and Marie for a few days. On our way back we stopped for the night and had a visit with Don & Giselle who were our neighbours in Texas for the last couple of years. We then stopped in Medicine Hat where we had a great time campimg/golfing with my family for a few days. In early August we went on another camping trip to Manitou Beach with Don's family. And then harvest started and that was the end of camping for this year. All the family was home for Thanksgiving and we had family pictures taken and had our Christmas on Oct 14th with family and friends. We made another quick trip to BC and returned to help Don's mom moved to a different house in Ogema. So it has been a busy time, as well as getting ready to leave for Texas.

We are heading out tomorrow (Oct 28th) after watching our grandson's hockey practice. We have to be in Texas by Oct 31st because on Nov. 1st we have to take a food handling course again so we can work in the kitchen in the park.

This year we have an added bonus since we are leaving on Nov 8th to spend about 25 days in New Zealand and Australia with our friends Bruce & Diana and Don & Karen. It is going to be so much fun!!

So as long as I can figure out how to do things on our tablet you can follow along with us on our winter fun.

Until next time, take care!
